The Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship (2026–2027)

The Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship is now open. The University of Edinburgh is offering the Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year. Three full scholarships are available for eligible postgraduate programmes in human medical and health-related fields. The scholarship is intended to support outstanding students, with a strong encouragement for applications from candidates from Africa and other eligible countries.

The Glenmore Scholarship aims to enable talented individuals to gain advanced medical and public health education and to apply this expertise in countries and communities that stand to benefit most from enhanced healthcare capacity.


Scholarship Awards

Three scholarships are available. Each scholarship covers:

  • Full tuition fees for the duration of the programme of study
  • Any additional programme costs listed on the University’s degree finder, where applicable

Eligible Programmes

Applicants must be accepted for admission in the 2026–2027 academic year to one of the eligible programmes listed below.

  • MSc Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors
  • MSc Primary Care Ophthalmology

  • MSc Cancer Biology and Precision Oncology
  • Master of Public Health (MPH)
  • MFM Family Medicine

Eligible On-Campus Programmes (1 year):

  • MSc Human Anatomy
  • MSc Science Communication and Public Engagement
  • MSc (by Research) Biomedical Sciences (Life Sciences)
  • MSc (by Research) Integrative Neuroscience
  • MSc (by Research) Reproductive Sciences
  • MSc (by Research) Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Repair
  • Master of Public Health (MPH)

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Hold an offer of admission for an eligible programme for the 2026–2027 academic year
  • Have firmly accepted, or be intending to accept, the offer (preference given to applicants with an unconditional offer at the scholarship deadline)
  • Be currently domiciled in one of the eligible countries derived from the DAC List of ODA Recipients (2026–2027)
  • Have not previously had the opportunity to study at Master’s level (priority consideration)
  • Demonstrate an intention to continue working in countries that will benefit from their advanced medical education

Applicants must be domiciled in one of the eligible countries listed in the official scholarship guidance. The University defines domicile as the country of ordinary residence.


Selection Criteria

Scholarships are awarded based on:

  • Academic merit (candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the overseas equivalent of a UK first-class honours degree)
  • The strength of a personal statement

The personal statement (maximum 3,500 characters) must address:

  1. The specific elements of the programme that attracted the applicant to the University of Edinburgh
  2. How completion of the programme will benefit the applicant’s career and personal development
  3. How the qualification will enable the applicant to contribute to their community, region, or country

How to Apply

Applicants must first apply for admission to the University of Edinburgh. Access to the scholarship application system is granted after the admission application has been processed, which may take up to five working days.

Eligible applicants should then submit an online scholarship application via EUCLID, accessible through the MyEd portal.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply well in advance of the scholarship deadline to allow time to resolve any technical issues.

  • Notification of outcome: Late June / early July 2026

The Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship offers three fully funded opportunities for students admitted to eligible medical and public health postgraduate programmes at the University of Edinburgh for the 2026–2027 academic year.
