Opportunity Summary
Applications are now open for the 8th World Heritage Site Managers’ Forum (WHSMF26), which will take place in Busan, Republic of Korea, alongside the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee.
The Forum is organized by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, ICCROM, IUCN, Korea Heritage Service, and the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage through the World Heritage Leadership Programme.
The 2026 theme is “Connection and Communication: Participatory Approaches to Managing World Heritage.” The forum aims to strengthen collaboration among heritage professionals and empower site managers through networking, knowledge exchange, and international dialogue on effective heritage management. The event will be held 16–23 July 2026 in Busan, bringing together professionals responsible for managing UNESCO World Heritage sites around the world.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Have sufficient English proficiency (forum language is English, with interpretation available in French and Korean)
- Be World Heritage site managers or members of World Heritage site management teams
- Be involved in the management or conservation of a World Heritage property
- Be able to participate in discussions and collaborative activities
Funding Coverage
The forum typically provides support for participation, which may include:

- Meals and participation in forum activities
- Access to networking and training sessions
