Applications for Global Privacy Summer Fellow Program is now open. The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) is inviting applications for its a paid fellowship, for early-career professionals interested in privacy, data protection, and technology policy. Based in Washington, DC, the Fellow will work closely with FPF’s Global Privacy team across multiple regions, contributing to research and analysis on emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and international privacy frameworks.
FPF is a non-profit organization that convenes industry leaders, academics, civil society, and policymakers to advance principled data practices and responsible innovation. With staff located in Washington, DC, Brussels, Singapore, Nairobi, and New Delhi, FPF monitors global privacy and data protection trends and provides in-depth legal and policy analysis to stakeholders worldwide.
Role Overview
The Global Privacy Summer Fellow will support FPF’s Global Privacy team through policy research, writing, and analysis related to data protection law, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies. The Fellow will collaborate with colleagues across regions and contribute to comparative and cross-jurisdictional work on regulatory developments.
Applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds are welcome. Preference is given to candidates who have recently completed a graduate degree, including law degrees or MA, MBA, or PhD programs in policy-related fields.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Excellent research and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Experience through academic, professional, or volunteer work in relevant policy areas.
- Strong interest in data protection law and its application to new technologies, including artificial intelligence.
- Familiarity with one or more regions where FPF operates, such as Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, or Latin America.
- Ability to work collaboratively in diverse, international teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professional working proficiency in an additional language such as French, Mandarin, Japanese, or Spanish.
Fellowship Details
- Location: Washington, DC (hybrid, minimum two days per week in-office)
- Duration: 3 to 4 months
- Start Date: Preferred start date of 18 May 2026
- Time Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Compensation: USD 2,500 per month, pro-rated for partial months
- Application Deadline: 6 March 2026 (applications reviewed on a rolling basis)
