The NUS Young Fellowship Programme is a competitive non-degree programme created to nurture the next generation of global researchers, innovators, and academic leaders. The 2026 edition marks the third cohort of the programme and continues NUS’ commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and international collaboration.

Programme Theme: AI and Graduate Research
The 2026 programme is centred on the timely and impactful theme “AI and Graduate Research.” Fellows will explore how artificial intelligence is shaping modern research across disciplines, from engineering and biomedical sciences to social sciences and humanities.
Through lectures, workshops, and hands-on project presentations, participants will gain practical insights into:
- Research design and innovation
- Interdisciplinary applications of AI
- Graduate-level academic expectations
- Effective research communication and presentation skills
Programme Structure and Duration
The NUS Young Fellowship Programme runs for one month, combining both on-site and online components:
On-Site Programme (Singapore)
Dates: 22 – 26 June 2026
Duration: 5 days
Location: National University of Singapore
During this period, participants will attend:
- Face-to-face lectures and workshops led by NUS faculty
- Visits to cutting-edge research laboratories
- Tours of iconic Singapore landmarks and local attractions
- Networking sessions with professors, researchers, and fellow participants
Online Programme
Dates: 26 June – 24 July 2026
Final Presentation: 24 July 2026
The online component includes tutorials, guided research activities, and hands-on practice in preparing and delivering project presentations.

Important notes:
- Full participation in all on-site and online sessions is mandatory to qualify for the SGD 500 award.
- Participants are responsible for their lunch and dinner, estimated at SGD 10–15 per meal.
- Airfare to and from Singapore is not included.
- Any personal or leisure expenses outside the official programme will be at the participant’s own cost.
Who Can Apply? (Selection Criteria)

- Senior undergraduates (Year 3 or above)
- Students with strong academic records
- Individuals with diverse personal, academic, or professional backgrounds

– Detailed CV (maximum two A4 pages)
– Personal Statement or Reflective Essay (maximum 1,000 words), addressing one of the following:
- A research area of strong personal interest and its anticipated future development
- A significant social issue of personal relevance, including insights into potential solutions
– Academic Transcript (optional but highly recommended)
– Two Letters of Recommendation (optional but strongly encouraged, preferably from faculty members who can assess your academic or research potential)
– Passport-size Photograph
