Opportunity Summary
Applications are now open for the Women in Agriculture Leadership Program Fellowship 2026, an initiative designed to empower African women scientists working in agriculture and climate-resilient food systems. The fellowship is implemented by African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) under the Africa–Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture. The program aims to strengthen leadership capacity, technical expertise, and professional networks for women scientists working to transform Africa’s agrifood systems.
Through mentorship, leadership training, and specialized learning opportunities, fellows will gain the skills needed to influence agricultural innovation and advance gender-responsive climate solutions across the continent.
Participants will take part in professional development activities such as leadership and negotiation training, mentorship partnerships, and science communication training to enhance their influence in the agriculture and climate research sectors.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be African women scientists working in agriculture, agrifood systems, gender, or climate-related research.Have at least 7 years of professional experience in agricultural or climate-related research and development.
- Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as:
- Be a national and resident of one of the eligible countries: Egypt Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal
- Demonstrate motivation to advance gender-responsive and climate-resilient agricultural research.
- Be proficient in English or French.
