The AI Upskilling Programme is a multi-country initiative led by the FATE Foundation in partnership with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) and supported by Google.org with a strategic $4 million investment to build a sustainable AI education ecosystem across Africa.

The programme empowers institutions in:

to integrate advanced AI competencies into teaching, research, and curriculum design — enabling them to produce graduates ready for tomorrow’s AI-powered economy.

Who Should Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

To qualify for the 2026 intake, institutions must:

1. Be an accredited Higher Education Institution (HEI)
2. Offer STEM-related programmes (science, tech, engineering, math)
3. Demonstrate technical infrastructure readiness
4. Commit to integrating AI modules into curricula
5. Support participation from lecturers, teaching assistants, and senior STEM students
6. Participate in monitoring & evaluation and capstone projects
