Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and India Deep Tech Alliance have officially launched the India Deep Tech Accelerator, a new cross-border initiative designed to help India’s most promising deep tech startups scale globally. Published on February 17, 2026, the announcement marks a significant milestone in strengthening the India–U.S. innovation corridor.
The accelerator, powered by the Polsky Center, aims to support deep tech founders affiliated with India’s premier technical institutions, particularly the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), in transforming breakthrough research into globally competitive companies.
A New Pathway for IIT Deep Tech Startups
India’s IITs are globally recognized for engineering excellence and research output. However, many breakthrough innovations face challenges in commercialization, international market access, and venture fundraising.
The India Deep Tech Accelerator addresses this gap by creating a structured and repeatable pathway to help IIT-affiliated startups:
-
Refine customer positioning
-
Strengthen investor narratives
-
Prepare for international fundraising
-
Build U.S. and global market readiness
-
Accelerate commercialization milestones
The initiative is developed in collaboration with leading IIT innovation hubs, including:
-
SINE at IIT Bombay
-
FITT at IIT Delhi
-
IIT Madras Research Park
These institutions will support startup nominations and strengthen ecosystem integration for long-term impact.
A Structured 10-Week Accelerator Program (April–June 2026)
The India Deep Tech Accelerator will run from April through June 2026 as a 10-week program designed for a cohort of up to 15 high-potential startups.
Program Components
Participants will receive:
-
Targeted commercialization workshops

Global ambition
-
Readiness to pursue U.S. market expansion
Backed by Over $2.5 Billion in Deep Tech Capital
The India Deep Tech Alliance, formed in September 2025, is an industry-led consortium bringing together investors, corporates, and ecosystem stakeholders. With more than $2.5 billion in committed capital from member institutions, IDTA supports deep tech commercialization in priority sectors such as:
-
Artificial Intelligence
-
Semiconductors
-
Advanced Computing
-
Robotics
-
Biotechnology
The accelerator is further supported by:
-
Aroa Venture Partners — committing up to $200,000 per selected startup
-
Speciale Invest
-
Celesta Capital
-
Harper Court Ventures
-
MFV Partners
These partners will provide mentorship, office hours, and potential follow-on investment support.
A Strategic India–U.S. Collaboration Model
The accelerator reflects a broader commitment to building a global deep tech ecosystem by connecting research-driven startups to international capital, expertise, and market opportunities.
By leveraging the Polsky Center’s experience in venture creation and international startup acceleration, IIT founders will gain:
-
Access to U.S. investor networks
-
Strategic partner introductions
-
Structured de-risking frameworks
-
Global commercialization playbooks
This model strengthens the bridge between cutting-edge research in India and scalable global enterprises.
Why This Accelerator Matters for Deep Tech Founders
Deep tech startups often face longer development cycles, higher capital requirements, and complex commercialization pathways. Unlike traditional startup accelerators, the India Deep Tech Accelerator focuses specifically on science-driven ventures transitioning from lab innovation to market-ready companies.
The program aims to systematically de-risk innovation, enhance global competitiveness, and increase international fundraising success for Indian founders.
For IIT-originated startups seeking to expand into the U.S. or global markets, this accelerator represents a strategic opportunity to gain structured support, early capital access, and international visibility.
