The GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum 2026 is opening its doors to young professionals who want to engage in high-level discussions on global and European challenges. This 13th edition of the forum brings together early-career leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society to discuss pressing issues and shape strategic thinking for the future.
Even though the forum is relatively new, it has quickly gained a reputation as a leading platform for young professionals across the public and private sectors. Over its previous 12 editions, the program has welcomed 360 participants from nearly 60 countries and more than 160 institutions, highlighting its reach and global relevance. Participation offers a chance to learn from peers and senior professionals alike, and to gain insights into the issues shaping Europe and the wider international landscape.
Who the Forum Is For
The forum is aimed at young professionals between 25 and 35 years old who already have some professional experience or expertise in areas relevant to the forum’s themes. Proficiency in English is required. Areas of focus for applicants include:
-
Global security and defence
-
European Union policy and priorities
-
Geopolitics and strategic partnerships
-
Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity
-
Economy, energy, and climate security
Applicants are expected to have demonstrated interest or work experience in these areas. The selection process is competitive, and the forum prioritizes diversity across geography, gender, and expertise. While the program primarily focuses on Europe, candidates from other regions, including North and Latin America, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and Australia, are encouraged to apply. In previous editions, 65% of participants were female, reflecting a strong commitment to gender balance.
Why Participate
Participating in the GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum offers more than just exposure to discussions. It is an opportunity to:
-
Engage directly in strategic dialogue with professionals shaping global policy
-
Explore current challenges facing Europe and the world in security, economy, and technology
-
Build a professional network of peers, mentors, and global leaders
-
Gain insights into how ideas can translate into practical action in international affairs
The forum has historically been a place where young professionals can expand their understanding of complex policy issues and gain a perspective on how decisions are made at high levels. Participants also become part of a wider alumni network, providing long-term connections and opportunities for collaboration beyond the event itself.
Background and Legacy
The GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum began in 2013, building on the success of the 2012 Bratislava Young Atlanticist Summit. Originally focused on strengthening transatlantic cooperation, the forum has grown into a central platform in Europe for emerging leaders. It continues to bring together a mix of early-career professionals from diverse sectors, creating a space where new ideas and practical approaches to policy, security, and societal challenges can be shared and explored.
How to Apply
Applications are submitted online through the official GLOBSEC form. The deadline is midnight CET on 6 March 2026. Candidates should prepare their application to clearly highlight their professional experience and alignment with the forum’s themes. Since space is limited, early submission is recommended.
Selected participants will join the 2026 cohort to participate in sessions designed to build analytical and strategic skills, engage with global leaders, and contribute to discussions on security, policy, and innovation. The program not only provides learning opportunities but also allows emerging leaders to be part of ongoing conversations that influence Europe and global policy.
For young professionals looking to expand their knowledge, network with like-minded peers, and have a direct role in discussions about the future of Europe and the world, the GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum 2026 is an opportunity not to miss.
