Submissions are now open for the Confronting Climate (Im)Mobilities Anthology 2026, a global digital creative project amplifying youth voices on climate mobility, identity, and adaptation. Young creatives from Africa, the Greater Caribbean, and the Pacific are invited to share original work exploring how climate change shapes movement, immobility, belonging, and resilience.
As climate pressures reshape livelihoods, cultures, and futures, the need for people-centred climate storytelling has never been greater. This anthology moves beyond policy discussions and scientific data to centre lived experiences. Through poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, music, and visual art, the initiative highlights how communities are navigating environmental migration, displacement, and adaptation.
About the Climate Mobility Anthology
The Confronting Climate (Im)Mobilities Anthology 2026 brings together diverse creative expressions that explore the human dimensions of climate change. Rather than focusing solely on statistics or technical climate frameworks, this project prioritizes stories of identity, culture, and resilience.
Climate mobility refers to the ways environmental change influences movement—whether through migration, displacement, relocation, or the decision to remain in place despite risk. By amplifying youth climate storytelling, the anthology contributes to global conversations on climate justice and sustainable adaptation.
Selected works will be professionally curated and published in a global digital anthology launching in mid-2026, providing contributors with international exposure and recognition.
Categories for Submission
Applicants may submit original work in one of the following categories:
-
Creative Writing (poetry, short fiction, or creative nonfiction)
-
Visual Arts
-
Music
Each submission should reflect themes of climate mobility, immobility, adaptation, identity, or lived climate experience.
Recognition and Global Exposure
One outstanding submission will be selected from each category: creative writing, visual arts, and music. The three category winners will be formally recognized and invited to attend the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum in June 2026.
Participation in the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum offers a unique opportunity to engage with global policymakers, researchers, climate advocates, and fellow creatives. It positions young artists and storytellers at the forefront of international climate mobility discussions.
Beyond the winners, all selected contributors will benefit from professional curation and publication in a widely accessible digital anthology. This creates a powerful platform for emerging voices from climate-vulnerable regions.
Who Can Apply?
The anthology is open to young creatives aged 18 to 35 who are citizens or residents of Africa, the Greater Caribbean, or the Pacific. Applicants must submit original work that meaningfully engages with the themes of climate change, mobility, identity, and adaptation.
This opportunity is particularly relevant for individuals whose communities are directly experiencing climate impacts, including rising sea levels, extreme weather events, environmental degradation, or forced migration.
Submission Deadline
The submission window is open from 10 February 2026 to 8 March 2026. All entries must be submitted within this period. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Interested applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full call for submissions and prepare their entries well before the deadline.
