African Conservation and Climate Leadership Opportunities 2026: Fellowships and Scholarships for Youth

Leading Africa’s conservation and climate action agenda in this decade requires a new generation of leaders equipped with relevant skills, strong networks, and a future-ready leadership mindset. To support this vision, the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), through its Conservation Education and Youth Leadership Desk, has opened four competitive opportunities for young people across Africa.

1. AWF Geospatial Leaders Fellowship

Duration: 10 months

This fellowship supports young professionals to turn spatial and geospatial data into practical decision-making tools that shape Africa’s conservation and development future.

4. Young Conservation Heroes Scholarship

The Young Conservation Heroes Scholarship provides full secondary school scholarships for young learners in Kenya, unlocking early pathways into conservation leadership.

Applicants must be from Kenya and enrolled in one of the 137 primary schools supported by the Young Conservation Heroes Project in Tana River, Kwale, Kilifi, Kitui, Makueni, Taita Taveta, or Kajiado counties.
