About the Role at Geneva Global

The Senior Program Manager will play a central role in managing a new, high-visibility secondary education and skills program in Ethiopia. This program aims to enhance the relevance and quality of secondary education, helping students transition successfully to tertiary studies or the workforce. The initiative strengthens implementation of the competency-based curriculum, equipping students with essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in education programming, program management, and cross-cultural collaboration. As part of the broader education portfolio, the Senior Program Manager will also support additional programs in Ethiopia, Uganda, and potentially other countries.

This position reports to GGI’s Director of Programs/Education Team Lead in the US and collaborates closely with both headquarters and the in-country team.


Key Responsibilities

Program Support and Management (70%)

The bulk of your responsibility will involve supporting and overseeing the implementation of the secondary education and skills program in Ethiopia. This includes:

  • Providing continuous operational support to country teams across regions of implementation.

  • Supporting strategic planning of project activities, budgeting, financial management, and grantmaking activities to ensure alignment with agreement terms.

  • Overseeing monitoring and evaluation, reporting, program operations, and partner coordination.

  • Mobilizing and coordinating technical expertise, guidance, and solutions for program design, planning, implementation, and assessment.

  • Managing collaboration with HR, Accounting, Operations teams, and in-country legal counsel to ensure effective financial management, reporting, personnel processes, and grant disbursement.

  • Supervising HQ-based interns working on program management and related tasks.

Donor Support (10%)

  • Assisting country teams in preparing reports for funders and consortium partners, particularly regarding program implementation and impact.

  • Supporting GGI leadership in maintaining strong client relationships.

Business Development & Marketing (10%)

  • Identifying new funding sources and supporting proposal development for existing and new education initiatives.

  • Producing case studies, blogs, and articles to highlight GGI’s work and elevate organizational visibility.

  • Participating in conferences and professional forums to support business development and institutional outreach.

Organizational & Technical Support (10%)

  • Providing cross-departmental support to other GGI and GIV teams.

  • Contributing to onboarding processes for new staff.

  • Participating in internal committees on business development, employee experience, strategy, and organizational systems.


Qualifications

Candidates should embody GGI’s culture of collaboration, human kindness, creativity, and commitment to high impact. Required qualifications include:

  • Minimum seven years of international development program management experience.

  • Strong background in secondary education and skills programming.

  • Expertise in program design, planning, monitoring, and evaluation in international education.

  • Budgeting and financial management skills, including strong Excel proficiency.

  • Experience working with international donors, foundations, corporations, and NGOs.

  • Grants and project management experience.

  • Advanced degree in international education or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience working in developing-country contexts.

  • Knowledge of a second language.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally other publishing, grants management, or data analysis tools.

  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% annually.
