  Spring Clean your Career

Oldham residents looking at getting a new job or back into work can benefit from Spring Job Week next week.

Local employment charity Highway to Opportunities (H2O) have teamed up with Oldham Community Radio 99.7fm (OCR) to broadcast a range of programmes and job tips throughout the week aimed at reaching those that are currently out of work, thinking about changing career, or improving their skills set.

‘The team at H20 have years of experience offering job, training and learning advice to residents of all abilities’. Explains Les Crabb H2O manager.

‘This week we’ll be sharing our ‘world famous’ top tips with all listeners. We’ll be offering four tips a day covering areas such as CV writing, what to wear to an interview, to filling in application forms’

On Thursday lunchtime OCR will be broadcasting live from H2O’s headquarters on Union Street, and will be speaking to past clients that have developed their skills, found work, or completed training as a result of H20’ services.

‘H2O offer a range of information advice and guidance services to employers and employees in the borough, and we hope that this week encourages those thinking about improving their skills, changing jobs, or getting back into work to come into the centre and see how we can help.’

‘It can be quite daunting when you start applying for jobs, or decide you need a change of direction, particularly as all employers vary their recruitment methods slightly. However, we are here to help, hopefully this week can help take away that fear and answer some of those burning questions you may have about job application processes.’

The week is funded by Learndirect and coincides with the launch of Learndirects’ employability programme which will be available through H2O.
