Highway to Opportunities have recently completed a joint training programme with The Oldham College which resulted in the recruitment of 78 residents from Oldham to the new Tesco store in Failsworth.
H20 helped residents to complete application forms, and delivered workshops on working in retail as well as interview techniques prior to interviews with Tesco.
‘Overall 96 residents entered the project, and 73 of these were employed by Tesco’ explains Les Crabb, H20 Outreach Manager. ‘The project provided an opportunity for local agencies to work together with Tesco, and increase employment rates in the borough, a number of these people which were made job offers had been out of work for some time which is a successful outcome for all concerned.’
