Based on a converted double-decker bus, H20’s Asian Women’s Project is a women-only resource right in the heart of the Asian communities of Oldham.
The Bus offers a variety of activities to help Asian women move towards employment and, to help mothers with young children, an OFSTED recognised crèche is available. Help is also given with writing C V’s, completing application forms and practising interview techniques. Introductory ICT training is available too.
Women are also encouraged to access town centre services, away from their own neighbourhood, to encourage integration into the wider Oldham community. Over its fourteen year lifetime, this unique project has helped over 2,100 women into employment, self-employment, education or training. Making a sustainable difference to the lives of women, their families and the community in which they live, it provides a popular service available nowhere else in the borough.
